Painting: autumn leaves

"Autumn leaves"

From the day I can remember, the autumn has always been a particularly melancholic transitional period. With its winds and the coldness it changes the happy and pleasent landscape of summer entirely, than it just disappears and suddenly there is the winter. It has been difficult for me to capture this particular period or state of mind. This small painting is so far the closest I have come. Inspiration to make this image came after I have viewed works by the excellent russian artist Vladimir Paroshin, in particular his painting "The apple tree". The painting is painted with acrylic paint on a block of small kapaplates that I have glued together, on top of each other. It has a small metallarrangement for hanging. The format is 20-20.5cm in width (lower part broadest)/34.9cm length/3.2cm deep.
