“Don’t you cry” is a digital artwork. It has a photo of the Tromsøpalm as base. I have used digital colour and graphic effects in the creation. It can be printed as Giclée or on another interesting material. I have made nice variations.
The ‘Tromsø palm’ is a strong, very robust plant, a familiar sight lots of places around the coast in the northern part of Norway. It can be up to 2 or 3 meters in height. It was introduced in Tromsø (from England, the origin is probably Caucasus) around 1850 as an interesting garden plant. From there it started to spread rapidly. It now has a very bad reputation and is considered a ‘problem’ in the vegetation. Research environments in Norway are of the opinion that the plant should be extinct. But the palm is very strong and it is not certainty about the best method. The plant is in its own peculiar way quite beautiful and has grown into a strange landmark in the northern part of Norway.
