"Hommage Per Sångberg"
I painted this image after I read the artbook: "Konzta", where several artists from Jämtland and Härjedalen in Sweden are presented. The book was interesting; the theoretical perspectives, the spectre of the art presented and its anchor in the geographical or cultural roots of this particular region.
Per Sångberg is represented on the front page of the book with the painting "Jämtland" from 2002, it is an oil painting, size 114x104 cm. I liked it and made a small version (20x20), I tried to make it close to the original, in compositions and colours, but there are differences. The original is more of a complete artwork and the colours perhaps more vibrant and compact in the expression. Per Sångberg is born in 1958 in Sweden. His paintings are said to be populated with animals and creatures out of old "folketro" and nature mysticism.
